Green Craft - Likeness Magick

A brief and personal definition of what a Green Witch is

 

I am sure there are those of you who have or still wonder what is a Green Witch? Well I can tell you we aren't the color green for starters. Well, not unless we blow ourselves up in some sort of crazy mad Plant Alchemy experiment.  I like to consider myself and my path always experimental. As there are no set rules to being a Green Witch. For me personally I do not worship a deity per-say. I do honor the essence and spirit of Gaia as a whole. Well I take that back, sort of... I do honor and celebrate the Horned God in the sense of fertility and any Forest/Garden Entities (ie. insecta, fauna, & the natures elements) that influence the soils, plants, and any aspect dealing with Green Craft. 

Green Witches grow, heal, and maintain plant spirits. You can think of a green witch as stewards of the Earth. To help keep a balance not just with plant life but with all living things. But that should be the main focus for all peoples on this Earth. As it's the only home we have after all. Yet so many still continue to destroy and poison her. So my own goal as a practitioner of the green path is to help heal the Earth, protect all creatures in anyway I can, ensure that knowledge is passed down to other green crafters like yourselves. To keep and protect what so many others before us have started and maintained.

Green Sympathetic Magick

 As some of you may know there are various types of magick. One of which is sympathetic magick (what I call likeness for likeness). What is sympathetic magick? Well to put it simply it is when one object is used to represent normally a person (but can also represent a place or thing). When sympathetic magick is used it is to link two objects as one. Once linked what ever is done to the object happens to the person. Sounds familiar right?

Well that is because it is often used in hoodoo, voodoo, and most types folk magick traditions. When you are not able to get personal artifacts from the person you are trying to heal this is a route you can take. Believe it or not this type of magick first started off for healing the sick. It still is used for that purpose, however, thanks to misinformed individuals especially Hollywood have used this type of magick in a way to put it in a negative light.

Ways to use Sympathetic Magick

Now that we have that brief but necessary history lesson out of the way lets move forward. As a green witch you can use various things to be that representative item to link to a sick person who needs a healing boost or protection. A few examples can be stones, making mud dolls (egregore magick +), dolls made from dried plants, or what I love to use personally are live plants. To link a live entity to another is very special. Why? Well because if you are using this to heal someone both will begin to exchange energies with one another. For example, lets say you have a friend or family member who is ill. If you know that this illness is long term you can use this type of magick for their benefit. It is ideal to use on peoples who are long distant and you can't visit them to perform healing magick. Thus you can perform it on your live plant which will transfer your healing spells to them.

Another neat feature is when both are linked if 'said' person is not well physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually or what have you. The plant will react. You can program, yes like a machine, your spell to perform certain things or features to let you know exactly what is happening to your friend. Like if they are depressed perhaps a few leaves will act a certain way, etc. Keep in mind... What happens to the plant also happens to 'said' person. So it is important that you tend and care for this plant.  Pick a plant that you know is sturdy and requires very little attention. Such as a succulent or house plant.

How to Implement Sympathetic (Likeness) Magick

When you have selected what you want to represent your friend or family member its quit simple going forward. Let's say you decide to go with the live plant option. Place your plant in front of you and imagine this plant transforming into your loved one. That their likeness begins to transfer into this healthy growing plant. You can do this with your eyes open or closed. Make sure you are in a place that is quiet and safe from disturbances. When performing magick what ever type it is keep it simple. By that, I mean you do not need incense, oils, candles, music, or ritual tools. Other than your mind, hands, voice, and thoughts that is all you need to be honest. The rest are just extra tools to help you build what I call muscle memories. I'll go into that in another blog/video. 

When you are comfortable cup your plant. Make sure its small enough that you can hold it. If you plan on using a plant that is rooted into the Earth you can simply lay your hands on it. Ideally you want it in a pot where you can shelter it and watch over it. While you have the plant in your hands whisper your loved ones name. As if you are speaking directly to them. Let the plant know in your own words that it will now represent the likeness of (persons name). That what happens to it (the plant) happens to the person. Now as a reminder.... We are using this ONLY for healing and protection. To cause harm to another being is not the way of a Green Witch. So if that is your intention may your work be undone before it is ever started and stay that way. 

Continue to say your loved ones name over and over until their name starts to vibrate out of your mouth sort of like a Mantra. Repeat until you feel that you have linked both together (you can even imagine a golden thread attaching and linking both together). At this point if you have any particular healing spells/rituals you'd like to perform do them at this point. Once completed let the plant spirit know that you are grateful for its assistance. Promise that you will look after it and nourish it in return for it's help. Keep your promise and tend to it as if you were in person with your loved one tending to them. At any point there on you can perform healing rituals at any time and in any fashion you deem necessary.

Un-linking

There will be a point and time that you will want to un-link the two. You will know for instance when your loved one is healed or the spell work is complete. You do not want to permanently use the plant as a link to this person. Remember what happens to one happens to the other. So you''ll want to do this at one point.

In a similar fashion as when you started your linking spell you will want to undo it. Again cup your plant in your hand and as you were waking up a baby whisper its name and let it know that you are un-linking (persons name) from the plant. Remove all mental and spiritual likeness from your mind and from the plant. You can imagine that there is a golden string that is attached to the plant and person. With astral scissors you want to cut that string. It will represent that the link is no more. That the plant is back to being a plant and your loved one is their own entity. 

Naturally you will want to thank the plant again and give it some sort of offering. What kind? That is up to you.
